The Zoetrope is a vintage animated toy which was a major feature in the new The Women in Black. The Zoetrope is device that spins and produces the illusion of moving in a still image. Its moderately easy to use, you need a cylinder with slits cut vertically in the sides to use them for viewing, on the inner surface is a band of images from a few photos. So once its spinning the user would look through the vertical slits at the side and it will portray that the images are moving.

The Thaumatrope is Victorian toy which used a card with different images on each side attached to 2 strings then when the strings were rapidly twirled the cards would rotate around 1 point, making it look like the image was moving. The creator of the Thaumatrope was John Ayrton Paris who was an English Physicist and the year was 1825 and the Thaumatrope was the first of its kind.
